This pre-conference masterclass has been custom designed in partnership with QTC Education specifically for local government finance professionals, focusing on the connection between services, service levels, costs and council budgets.

Through practical exercises and local government case studies, participants will explore how service planning can support better budgeting, resource allocation and decision-making. The session will examine how finance professionals can better understand the cost of service delivery, distinguish cost pressures from service-level choices, and assess the financial implications of new or changing services.

Participants will leave with practical tools and approaches to strengthen budget and long-term financial planning processes and support more informed conversations about what councils deliver, what it costs and what they can sustainably afford.
